frequently Asked Questions

We have an existing patio of plain gray concrete that is in good condition, but we use the area a lot and we would like to make it look attractive. We are considering having the patio paved over with real stone. How does the cost of StoneCast architectural system compare to the cost of real stone?

The cost of StoneCast imprinted with an authentic-looking stone texture is about one third the cost of real stone.

We have a concrete deck around our swimming pool and we were thinking about doing an upgrade on the finish. Would concrete overlay be a good option for our pool deck? Also, our pool deck is really hot in sunny days and we would like to have a lighter more reflective color. What would you recommend?

Yes, concrete overlay is the perfect solution for a pool deck surface. I would recommend a base color of coquina and a Sandstone texture. The Sandstone texture would hold small pods of water and the coquina color, a creamy white, would be very cool and reflective.

We are planning to re-model our kitchen. We like the look of acid stained concrete and we also like the look of seamless micro-topping. Could we do these applications in our kitchen? We are considering new tile, but we are open to doing something different. How does the cost compare to tile?

Absolutely, you can do either overlay or microtop in your kitchen. The cost of these systems are very competitive with tile, and acid stains are so versatile that you can create a unique design not possible with other flooring media.

What maintenance is required for decorative concrete floors?

Decorative concrete surfaces are always sealed after finishing and staining have been completed, usually with either a wate rborne or solvenated acrylic. These finishes are very durable and protect the surface from stains, dirt, grease, water, etc. Maintenance for interior floors requires the occasional sweep and light mopping. Exterior concrete can be washed with mild soap and water or a light pressure wash.

How often should be re-seal our stamped concrete?

Re-sealing can be done periodically and typically once every three years is adequate.
